Houston prosecutor fired for asking assault victim’s immigration status

A Houston prosecutor was fired Friday after he refused to bring charges against a man accused of attempted sexual assault because he believed the victim was living in the US illegally. Harris County District Attorney fired John Denholm after he had been reassigned to a different part of the office pending an investigation of the Oct. 31 incident.

"He asked about the victim's immigration status, suspecting that if he was undocumented, he wouldn't come to court to testify".

I get asked my legal status at road blocks. The cops can question every driver on the road but a prosecuter can't ask an assault suspect?

it speaks to motive. illegals that witness or are victims of crimes often are given legal status so they can testify. houston is a very corrupt city.

As stated, the victim's citizenship status has no bearing on whether a crime was committed or not. I don't know if the prosecutor deserved to be fired but he certainly should have not done that.

I'm sure he got fired because he refused to prosecute and is a racist.
