Turkey should scrap Russian missile system or face sanctions

White House National Security Adviser Robert O’Brien said on Sunday that the US is very upset about Turkey’s purchase of Russian missile defense systems and could impose sanctions on Ankara. O’Brien’s comments came ahead of a visit by Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan to Washington on Nov 13 to meet US President Trump.

The very nature of these weapons is defensive. Unless one is planning to invade, defensive weapons shouldn't cause this much controversy. Obviously they are effective!

From what I've read about the S 400 system is that it's a superior missile system, better than what the US has, so why wouldn't you want a better system?
