Case filed against Remington by Sandy Hook families allowed to proceed

Remington Arms Co. had filed an appeal to block a lawsuit which had been filed by the families of the victims of the massacre that took place in Sandy Hook. The Supreme Court decided to not hear the appeal. The families have maintained that since Remington is the maker and promoter of the AR-15 style rifle that was used in the shooting, it must be held liable.

This is an absolutely absurd precedent. Do relatives of a drowned child get to sue the company that installed the pool? How about a person maimed by a drunk driver bringing a suit against the automotive manufacturer?

This is a bad idea. This will lead to really shitty lawsuits that will make people scared of there own products.

This is such a stereotypical-American move. Throw lawsuits everywhere, no matter how stupid they seem, in an attempt to make money.

This is bad I'm no major gun collector but this makes no sense. Are we gonna be able to sue car manufacturers or companies that produce liquor and beer next? I'm all for holding corporate America responsible for wrong doing but his is stupid.

“The plaintiffs have argued that Remington bears some of the blame for the Sandy Hook tragedy. They said the Bushmaster AR-15 gun that Lanza used - a semi-automatic civilian version of the U.S. military’s M-16 - had been illegally marketed by the company to civilians as a combat weapon for waging war and killing human beings.”

Pathetic legal mumbo jumbo. This a mental illness issue and some of these lawyers are just as sick. Gun control is a leftist term for a second amendment violation. How long do thee leftist think we will sit still for this kind of farce.

Reminds me of something in the past about another issue. It was along the lines of suing certain food producers for making the food taste so good that people were getting obese. Just a passing thought.
