3 California school employees to be charged in death of special needs student

Two school employees and a teacher are facing criminal charges in the death of an autistic student. Max Benson, 13, died after being restrained by staff due to violent behavior. He eventually became unresponsive. Authorities said a teacher performed CPR, but Benson died two days later in a hospital. The California Department of Education later suspended Guiding Hands School’s certification.

Restraining the kid for 1.75 hours, after which he died 2 days later. Insufficient information from the articles to know what happened to cause the boy to die. But, I don't like the idea of restraints being used on someone who has committed no crime, unless there is no other choice.

I don't necessarily know how to feel about this story I do feel as if restraining someone for an hour or more is a little bit excessive but I would like to see the coroner's report because the only thing I don't understand is how someone face down unless they're in a puddle can die. I have high functioning autism so I've never needed to be in any special needs classes but I have been on medication for my autism and the first medication I took when I was a kid was Ritalin and the Ritalin didn't react with me well and I had a violent Outburst apparently I don't remember it so everything I'm saying is from a third-party but apparently I freaked out I had to be restrained by a teacher and I ended up biting the teacher so to a certain extent I sympathize with the staff but I also sympathise with the parents because I understand how hard of a lost it is to lose a child whether or not the people should be held responsible for this I think depends on the coroner's report Because unless they gagged him or he had such severe autism that he was a mute I don't understand why he wouldn't have said hey I can't breathe or something along those lines as well as was the child on any medication and did this medication affect his death because I wouldn't be surprised like with myself if this violent Outburst with him came from the medication he was taking if he was taking medication
