Saudi Arabia, Yemen’s Houthi rebels in indirect peace talks

Saudi Arabia is intensifying informal talks with the Iran-aligned Houthi movement on a ceasefire in Yemen. The talks were launched in Jordan in late September, with Riyadh taking sole responsibility for military efforts by the Arab alliance fighting in Yemen after the exit of its main partner, the UAE. A Houthi official confirmed the discussions but warned that patience was ’wearing thin’.

Keep talking, this utter disaster needs to be ended as soon as possible. A big hand to Congress for pushing through the arms embargo, which looks like it went a long way to convincing the UAE to peel away. The Saudi know they're fighting this shit show on their own and they'll never win, so they'll be held solely responsible for the whole disaster, the many thousands of dead Yemeni civilians and the consequences of such resentment for a generation right on their border. MbS was an absolute reckless fool for launching it in the first place, now he's gotta own it.
