New Orleans zoo cancels pro-police event, cites community concern

A New Orleans zoo has canceled a six-day pro-police promotion, based on concerns from community members. The Audubon Nature Institute announced that it dropped its planned ’Blue at the Zoo’ event offering 20% discounts to any guest who wore the color typically worn by law enforcement at its zoo or aquarium from May 11 to 16. New Orleans’ top cop said he was ’disappointed’ by the decision.

It's "unintentionally divisive" to support the peacekeepers of your community. Well, call me the great divider then. Shame on the zoo for canceling this event. I hope there is pushback against the pushback and the event goes through anyway.

Bent the knee to the local Bolsheviks. Next time kids break in and release all the honey badgers they can call their social worker. That should be fun..

If that’s how they feel then that’s fine. I’ll make sure to express how I feel by never going there and not supporting them. That’s what I suggest everyone who feels equally frustrated at this subservience to a tiny vocal minority in Twitter. Usually people who’d absolutely never go anywhere near their zoo anyway.

To be honest we need every cop in this country to just quit. Seriously just quit. Why be harrassed on a daily, talked down on like youre a child, get targeted at these "peaceful protests", allow your cities to defund you just to realzie that was a bad idea that only hurts the poor community more. Seriously just every single one quit for a week. See if these people change their mind about wanting someone around with a gun to protect them.

Guys, they're not saying they don't support them, they just don't want the protesters and rioters messing with the zoo.

It was more likely the insurance company said fire insurance would increase if they had the event.

Would these be the same cops that violated the Constitution and took weapons from citizens leaving them defenseless?

Those who objected to the cops should have a sign out in their yards telling the cops to NOT respond to calls from those addresses.

Wow, I hope the law abiding citizens remember this lack of support when they are deciding where to spend their dollars. Sad.

The community’s themselves need to start being held accountable. If you allow violence, broken family units, drugs, etc to rule your neighborhoods that’s the neighborhoods fault. A cultural change with some backgrounds needs to occur. Thomas Sowell said it best when he said the black family unit was deliberately destroyed once government allowed welfare and encouraged black women to have children out of wedlock. You enabled and created a society of depression, crime and addiction. People that don’t see what the government itself did to the black and other communities are blind and uneducated.

OMG. How dare the zoo voice their opinion that goes against the Church of Leftards. Obviously they would get cancelled by the fascists for doing that.

A Zoo should be fairly easy to boycott until they change their mind.

The color typically worn by police is black. I'm forty and I don't remember cops wearing blue.
