Protests strike Iran cities over gasoline prices rising

Protests have erupted across Iran after the government unexpectedly announced it was rationing petrol and undertaking an increase in its price. Prices rose by at least 50% on Friday as subsidies on petrol were reduced. Authorities said they were doing so in order to free up money to help the poor. One person was killed during protests, while several others have been injured.

Help the poor? Yeah-fucking-right, more like free up money for terrorists.

Awe $.90 per gallon too much? Cry me a river.

Didn't they claim to just find a massive oil reserve? I understand it takes time and money to get the oil out of the ground and processed but you'd think that would keep gas prices at ease for awhile.

didn't they just announced the discovery of a massive new gas field?

Imagine paying less than $1 for a gallon of gas. In my state we pay more for gas tax per gallon than they do for gas.

A protest in Iran that doesn't somehow feature the Iranian National Motto of "death to America?" That's new.

Even in Iran, there is more freedom to protest!! Here in the US, if you try to protest for gas prices, the cops will just beat you and shoot you, i.e. occupied wall street movement.
