Michael Bloomberg apologizes for ’stop-and-frisk’ policy

Michael Bloomberg on Sunday apologized for his longstanding support of the controversial ’stop-and-frisk’ police strategy ahead of a potential Democratic presidential run, a practice that he embraced as New York’s mayor despite its disproportionate impact on people of color. Bloomberg said he believed that stop-and-frisk saved lives, he said, but accepted that good intentions were not good enough.

Pretty smart move, it was a major stumbling block early on his candidacy path, and he's swallowed his pride and gone some way to removing the sting from it. It takes a lot for some egotistical septuagenarians to apologise for things they've done.
