Democrat John Bel Edwards wins re-election in Louisiana

Democratic Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards has defeated his Republican challenger, Eddie Rispone in Saturday’s gubernatorial election. Republicans were hoping to reclaim the seat on the strength of President Trump’s popularity. Edwards, however, with his focus on bipartisan, state-specific issues, cobbled together enough cross-party support to secure victory with about 51% of the vote.

Edwards was a West Point graduate and former Army Ranger who expanded Medicaid, nixed abortion, opposes most gun restrictions, and thinks the shampeachment is a distraction. Hell, I probably would've voted for him too.

Didn't Trump just hold a million person rally a day ago? Didn't that guarantee a GOP victory? I keep hearing about 2020. Right now is important too.

After 3 rallies and millions of dollars spent Trump still lost. In Louisiana!
