House passes bill funding government to avoid shutdown

The House passed a stopgap spending bill on Tuesday to keep the government open for four additional weeks, diminishing the chances of a paralyzing government-wide shutdown before Thanksgiving. The lower chamber approved the short-term spending fix in a 231-192. The Senate is expected to clear the measure before federal funding dries up on Thursday night.
