Charles Barkley apologizes for ’inappropriate’ joke about hitting women

Former NBA star Charles Barkley has apologized for telling an Axios reporter, ’I don’t hit women but if I did I would hit you.’ The reporter Alexi McCammond claims Barkley told her this after she asked him to clarify which presidential candidate he supported in 2020. Barkley was speaking off the record, McCammond admitted, but she felt strongly that he should be held accountable for his statement.

"I don't hit women but if I did I'd hit you" :D That is mildly funny, but it is funnier because of how bent out of shape she got over it.

Never apologize to the outrage mob, especially for comedy.

The only time you should ever apologize for a joke is when it's not funny. Not for being risque.

Can we joke about violence? You know, the acts that trump domestic violence. Comedy is how we deal with these issues.

Sorry Eddy, but joking on live TV about domestic violence is never appropriate or funny, no matter the circumstances.
