Sydney’s AQI touches ’Hazardous’ mark as smoke from wildfires engulfs city

The city of Sydney has been engulfed by thick smoke which arose because of wildfires, and residents with health conditions have been advised to stay indoors by health experts. Air quality reached the ’Hazardous’ mark in some parts of the city, and the skyline of the city was barely visible due to the smoke.

Pity the fires are not directly affecting Canberra. Years of self serving governments elected by a deluded population are having dire consequences. A politician recently called the lack of affordable housing "an existential threat". There has been a housing problem in the large cities for more than a decade. Wildfires and drought have been worsening for decades. There is no equivalance and no excuse other than political posturing to put housing ahead of the environment.
