McDonald’s employees in Chicago sue over workplace violence

McDonald’s employees on Thursday sued the fast food giant in Chicago over a store redesign that staffers say has made it easier for angry customers to leap over the counter and attack them. The suit claims McDonald’s has failed to protect them from a pattern of violence, targeting what McDonald’s calls ’Experience of the Future’ store renovations.

There wouldn't be a problem with taking down the barriers, if the dems did something about the out of control crime rate.

Sounds like it is time to start testing fully automated stores in Chicago. Robots can't sue.

McDonalds says ok! Shuts down every store in Chicago.

But no seriously it's Chicago I wonder why they're having a problem with violence.

Wasn't it the Black community in Chicago that demanded the barriers to be taken down because the barriers were "racist' to begin with?

Hold on. Didn't people cry racism over bulletproof barriers being used at various checkout counters? I don't remember which store/restuarant chain, but I definitely remember reading about that a while back.

lol when I worked at McDonald's the buffoons always left the back security door ajar and didn't have any cameras working in the hall leading to it. Luckily it was a pretty safe area, but we had one guy who moved from a bad part if the country who would always make sure to lock it whenever a woman was working alone in the back because he didn't want us raped. He was right though, the store didn't bother following policy and wouldn't care to unless something happened to get them in trouble for not doing so and he didn't want one of us to be the lesson.

Customers shouldn't be attacking employees, so this is something I'd hardly lay at McDonald's feet. Maybe it's victim blaming, but I think we'd be better off if customer service workers prioritized self defense training to contend with violent customers.

Maybe if they did their job correctly they wouldnt piss of the customers enough to make them want to attack. Or maybe work on their customer service skills. I've been working retail for 20 yrs....I've delbt with angry customers. Kill them with kindness. Dont get a smartass mouth and shitty attitude when someone comes back because you fukt up their order.....

simple, all the company had to do is put up a sign in large letters stating that they don't do special orders. they have a process of making their food if you don't want pickles or whatever take them off yourself.
