Peer review of Navy SEAL allowed to proceed by White House, says official

Mark Esper, the Defense Secretary of the United States fired the top civilian of the Navy on Sunday due to disagreements over the handling of the case of a Navy SEAL who had been convicted of misconduct in the battlefield in Iraq. The Navy SEAL was later supported by US President Donald Trump. The sailor would also be allowed to keep his Trident pin, which designates him as a SEAL.
