White House review finds emails showing debate over Ukraine aid

An internal White House review has uncovered emails between administration officials attempting to justify the decision to withhold military aid to Ukraine and debating the legality of the hold. The documents reportedly include ’early August email exchanges between acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney and White House budget officials seeking to provide an explanation for withholding the funds’.

Here we go, another round of presumptions, opinions and "I thought it meant X", without evidence.

The FiveThirtyEight headline is laughable. "News" is now a headline about opinions based on "news" reports that promote opinions about "news". It's almost dizzying.

even if he stopped aid for a time, that is still not a crime. the Obama administration had many real bribery cases. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/hillary-clinton-sided-with-russia-on-sanctions-as-bill-made-500g-on-moscow-speech https://thehill.com/policy/national-security/355749-fbi-uncovered-russian-bribery-plot-before-obama-administration

Haha its just gets better and better. Even though no amount of evidence will turn the Senate against Trump.

Ironically, if there had been a public vote to give $400 million to the Ukraine for military assistance, all of the pea brains crying out about the delay would most likely have voted against it happening at all.

It's so evident to anyone not blinkered that Trump is very happy to entertain foreign interference to help get him elected. He admitted as much on TV ffs. All this 'it's just hearsay' crap is just that, crap. Excuses. He's a very bent operator, that much we already know. He's not prepared to leave it to the electorate alone to try and elect him, or not. He just gotta use whatever dirt he can get his hands on and from wherever he thinks he can get it to give him what he believes will be the edge. He's a fucking sneaky cheat. The thing is, he may well have been able to win in 2016 had he very publicly pushed back against the Russians as everyone was hoping he would. Instead, he didn't, and he still very noticeably hasn't. So, that election will always be tainted, because of Trump's inability to bollock the Russians even once over election interference. His colossal ego gets in the way of him being able to even acknowledge that they DID interfere in the campaign. But now to see he was openly inviting Ukraine to take sides in the 2020 election and smear his main opponent and threat next year brings all sorts of questions back about 2016. Sorry Trumpistas, that's the way it is. He could've removed that suspicion long ago. He chose not to, time and time again. America deserves a better candidate than this dirtbag. To be clear, this ain't about policy, elections have consequences, and actually Trump ran on many (albeit very populist) ideas so this isn't about his policies. Policies can be made and unmade or reversed, or even furthered and built upon in future administrations. That's democracy. This is about the man. If Pence was in this position instead, for example, garnering as much support and opposition in equal measure as Trump does, but going about his business in a wholly less nefarious way, so be it. Truth is Pence will probably get more of that agenda done. The country may end up being as divided as it was during the Bush and Obama years, but no more so I believe. Trump has taken those divisions to a whole other level, and that's just not good at all for the country.

Of course there are emails about this. Nobody is saying the aid wasn't delayed, and it is expected that people would ask why it was being delayed. Nothing unusual there.
