Pro-democracy side wins Hong Kong local elections in landslide

The pro-democracy camp won a resounding victory in Hong Kong elections. Media reports Monday said that pro-democracy candidates had won a majority of the 452 district council seats at stake, taking control of at least 17 of the city’s 18 district councils. The Agence France-Presse news agency characterized the results as a ’humiliating rebuke’ to Beijing and city leader Carrie Lam.
