Anti-government protesters in Iraq burn down Iranian consulate

Anti-government protesters burned down the Iranian consulate building in southern Iraq on Wednesday, in one of the worst days since the protests begun. Six protesters were killed by security forces who fired live rounds amid ongoing violence in the country.

Remarkable that 27 have been killed & this headline ignores that to point out that something was burned

Iran probably won't take that very well. They will blame it on the CIA interfering in Iraqi politics (and Iran isn't?). Unstable regions favor dictators over democracies by default. Do not assume more democracy will solve Iraq's problems; more democracy will create even more chaos in the region. And no, democracy is not the same as liberal democracy, which is an even bigger pipe dream for the Middle East.
