Facebook’s new tool lets users transfer pictures to Google Photos

Facebook is launching a new tool today that will allow its users to transfer photos directly to Google Photos. The tool is being released initially in Ireland, and will be available worldwide in the first half of 2020. The tool will be useful for Google Photos users that don’t automatically backup pictures from their phones.

I notice Google photos "conveniently" used facial recognition to ID my friends and family in my photos and determine who was where on the date and time they were taken. Very "convenient".

So instead of just allowing us to download a large zip file (which is an option on Google drive) we'll need to link an email with Facebook? That sounds more like a ploy to harvest more information for the unknowing public than a convenience feature; this needs to be stopped.

All you have to do is allow Google access to all of your pictures which they can use in their ads.
