US threatens tariffs on $2.4 billion in French imports

The US has proposed new tariffs on over $2 billion worth of French goods, retaliating to a ’digital tax’ which it says discriminates against American products. The new levies could target trade in handbags, sparkling wines, cheeses, makeup products and other household goods. In some cases, products could be penalized by 100 percent.

This is a mistake, he's picking a fight with China at the moment and that fight would be a lot easier with Europe on our side. If the EU decides to retaliate by working closer with China then you can kiss any leverage we have goodbye.
