Merkel to visit Auschwitz for first time amid rise in anti-Semitism

Angela Merkel will make her first visit to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial on Friday, bringing a 60 million euro donation to help conserve the site, the museum said. Merkel will take part in a ceremony alongside a camp survivor and Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. Her visit comes amid a rise in German anti-Semitism and ahead of the 75th anniversary of the camp’s liberation.
