GM and LG Chem launch battery JV

General Motors has announced a 50-50 joint venture with LG Chem to produce lithium-ion battery cells in Ohio. The plant will be located in Lordstown. The new facility will supply batteries for several upcoming GM battery EV’s including a pickup truck that goes into production in late 2021.

The more parts they build in the US, the less travel the parts of the car have to do before it is built. This is a good thing. Most Prius' have travelled so far, if you buy one brand new and drive it your entire life, it'll never offset the carbon footprint it took to make it. It would have been more environmentally friendly to buy a Mustang.
