Distribution of leaked trade documents is sign of interference, says minister

Britain’s culture minister has expressed concern after the leak of classified UK-US trade documents, tied to a previous Russian disinformation campaign. The Labour Party says the leaked documents show the ruling Conservatives are plotting to offer the state-run NHS for sale in post-Brexit trade talks with the US. Minister Nicky Morgan said the incident has ’hallmarks of some form of interference’.

WUT. Why on earth would this be such a paralyzing fear amongst the British? Is the NHS so incompetently run that it needs to be handed over to some outsiders to get it efficient? If it is incompetently run then why is that scary? Surely it would be a good thing to make it better, right? But if it's not incompetently run then why would it change hands at all?

It's Labour pandering. Truth is, if the Conservatives wanted to privatise the NHS, they'd have done it by now, and they haven't, partly because it's an absolutely toxic issue in the UK. That's why Labour are trying to push this hard in the closing days of the election, they are desperate to try and claw back that 10 point gap in the polls. It actually just shows Labour's desperation. The Tories know better than to try & privatise the NHS overtly, they'll be killed in any future polls/elections. There IS talk however about how much access to the NHS will be granted to the US in trade negotiations. On that, we'll have to wait and see but Boris will be very keen NOT to be seen as Trump's poodle.
