’Muhammad’ becomes a top-10 name for American babies

As per a report by BabyCenter, the name ’Muhammad’ has for the first time made it to the list of top 10 baby names in the US. ’Muhammad’ rose 29 per cent in popularity from 2018 in the company’s listing, bumping ’Mason’ off the top 10. ’Muhammad’ first broke into the top 100 of US baby names in 2013. ’Liam’ was the most popular name for boys while ’Sophia’ topped the list in girl names.

If I had to guess, I’d think this probably has more to do with most non-Muslims diversifying their baby names selections and less that we’re suddenly getting a huge influx of Muslims. Then again, I’m no scientist.
