Medicare Chief tried to bill taxpayers to cover cost of stolen jewelry

According to reports, Seema Verma, the administrator at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, sought to have taxpayers reimburse her for the cost of jewelry and other possessions, stolen during a work-related trip. The Department of Health and Human Services reimbursed her $2,852.40 against her claim of $47,000. The department clarified it does not reimburse staff for lost jewelry,
