Questions mount over tours to deadly New Zealand volcano

A day after the White Island volcano erupted killing six people, injuring over 30 and eight still missing, questions are being raised on why tourists were allowed despite a recent increase in volcanic activity. Geological hazard tracker GeoNet raised its alert level for the island near the mid of a six-point scale in November. NZ PM Ardern has said the government would investigate the incident.

Only one question. Were the passengers made aware of the increased activity and alert level before visiting the island? If no, some big payouts are probably due.
