Finland anoints Sanna Marin, 34, as world’s youngest-serving prime minister

Finland’s transportation minister Sanna Marin, 34, was selected by her Social Democratic party to become the country’s youngest prime minister ever. Her appointment comes after Antti Rinne resigned as PM after a coalition partner said it had lost confidence in him. New Zealand’s PM, Jacinda Ardern, is 39, and the PM of Ukraine, Oleksiy Honcharuk is 35. North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un is 35.

A little more detail would have been nice. It’s unclear why she was chosen. She’s new, having become a law maker in 2015 and her focus was communication and transportation. This is a problem with unions and Rinne has significant experience with unions. So it’s unclear why they dumped him so fast while hiring her.
