Duterte to lift martial law in southern Philippines

Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte has decided to end more than two years of martial law in the south of the country. Duterte placed the Mindanao region under martial law after hundreds of local militants aligned with the IS group, occupying buildings, a commercial district and communities in Marawi city starting May 23, 2017. Troops quelled the siege after five months of intense airstrikes.

Probably not a good idea. MILF (yes, that's really the terrorists' name) is still operating in that area and kidnapping and killing people.

I guess the police have killed enough people now they have scared the population into submission for the moment.
