A Texas inmate was executed by lethal injection Wednesday evening for killing a supervisor at a state prison shoe factory in Amarillo nearly 17 years ago. Travis Runnels, 46, was convicted of slashing the throat of 38-year-old Stanley Wiley. Runnels was executed at the state penitentiary in Huntsville. He is the 22nd inmate put to death this year in the U.S. and the ninth in Texas.

We can't go on like this forever... We need to have some way for the condemned to follow a path of redemption. There has to be a place for these people, even if we have to make one. Fuck...

The death penalty is immoral in a civil society. In a hypothetical where it is impossible to contain someone, then it is necessary. When it is not needed, it is immoral to kill them. This is an instance where someone was locked up and then killed someone within it. This fulfills the fact that this person is dangerous, needs to be locked up, but even when locked up killed someone. He deserved the death penalty, even if you are against it.
