Islamic State claims responsibility for Niger attack which killed 71

The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for an attack on an army camp in Niger which left 71 military personnel dead on Tuesday. The group, known as ISIS in West Africa, is a Boko Haram splinter faction. It has about 3,000 men grouped in the Lake Chad region. Army reinforcements were rushed to the scene and the situation on Wednesday was ’under control,’ Niger’s defense ministry said.
