Algeria elects ex-PM as President, protests erupt

Thousands of people took to the streets of Algiers to demonstrate against the results of the presidential election that took place in Algeria on Thursday. President-elect Abdelmadjid Tebboune replaces Abdelaziz Bouteflika who had to step down after massive protests. A former loyalist of the ousted leader, Tebboune has served for four months as Prime Minister of the country.
