New Orleans city government falls victim to cyberattack

Mayor LaToya Cantrell of New Orleans declared a state of emergency Friday after the city was hit by a cyberattack that forced officials to shutdown all government computers. Officials first detected suspicious activity at approximately 5 a.m. local time and by 11 a.m. technical investigators detected a ’cybersecurity incident’. It is not clear when systems will be back, or who did the attack.
