Boris Johnson cannot keep Scotland in union against its will: Sturgeon

Scotland’s first minister Nicola Sturgeon has insisted that Scotland cannot be ’imprisoned in the UK against its will’, as the British government ruled out acceding to her demand for an independence referendum. Sturgeon said that after the anti-Brexit Scottish National Party won 48 of Scotland’s 59 seats in the election, her party had been given a mandate by the Scottish voters for a referendum.
