700 historians write to House, ask for Trump to be impeached

A public letter was written by a group of more than 700 historians, urging the House of Representatives to impeach United States President Donald Trump. In the letter, the historians have maintained that the President’s alleged disregard for the rule of law represents a ’clear and present danger to the Constitution’.

These 'historians' probably moonlight as climate scientists so they can 'sign' whatever propaganda the left needs to bolster their latest 'appeal to authority' type of scam they want to foist on the public.

So a bunch of TDS suffering idiots got together and can not seem to remember what happened when Clinton was impeached. Great work by "historians".

I find it funny that every single one of the issues they site are either unproven or blatantly false.

Ok so I don’t care if there were letters signed by historians English professors and mathematicians the only thing that matters in a real impeachment is did the evidence you collected and articles you bring forth strong enough to hold up to a legal challenge. If not then what was the point. If the evidence isn’t enough to convince 67 senators who already aren’t on your side you loose. It looks bad and only helps the incumbent in the end. And it hurts the country in the long run because it sets a bad precedent. Because of you think this won’t be used by republicans in the future you are an idiot and have had your head in the sand for the last 30 years. So much for knowing anything about history.

I guess they just want history to be made - history that it would be the first impeachment with bipartisan support AGAINST it.

Historians who clearly don't see the massive historical differences in this inquiry to those in the past. First time without criminal charges. First time it was pushed though on even less than party lines. Just a mockery of the system of impeachment. They should turn their degrees back in to the University until they learn their trade.

ahahaha my dyslexia made me read "More than 700 hippies sign lettuce calling hoes to impeach The God Emperor" immature jokes aside, who the hell they think they are? do they think they are better than the rest of the people so their opinion matters more? they read history, they haven't done a blue collar job, they haven't been homeless, they probably haven't had to go in debt to pay their education. One thing experience has taught me is that *most* privileged people are completely disconnected from reality and know nothing about life.

Probably 100 percentage of the 700 are either Socialist or Communist. So I'll just consider the source.

As a historian myself this letter is a disgrace. It is even more damaging to the field because there are actually some respected historians who signed the letter. Trump is ultimately answerable to the voters so he is not a demagogue or an authoritarian (though he does arguably have some similarities to a demagogue). Any argument that says Trump has ignored the law can also be made about Obama so the letter is disingenuous. This letter is a work of political advocacy not of historical research and analysis. Trump does not represent a threat to Democracy. Quite the contrary, Trump's power comes from the support of voters. The closest Presidential analog to Trump is Andrew Jackson (though there are some notable differences too). In conclusion I say shame of the historians who signed this letter, you have caused damage to our noble field.

After just finished reading this open letter, I'm shocked on how little historians understand about the running of the government.

You'd think these 700 historians would appreciate the value of honoring the democratic process. But no, people that read a lot about dictators are calling for a coup. Cool stuff

I would like to challenge anyone to make a coherent argument that Trump is a threat to our Democracy. I will wait.

Truly folks if the US goes down the road of weaponisation of impeachment the country will literally collapse from within. It’s teetering now for goodness sake. US politics and government agencies especially the intelligence sector needs serious and comprehensive reform. The great experiment of for the people by the people is in dire straits from cosy establishment politicians to corporate manipulated everything. Trump ,Biden Clinton ,the Bush dynasty all the same. Rotten self enriching.

Are these 'historians' the same type as the 'scientists' recruited on some website set up by the Democrats or one of their friends? I bet they are! Propaganda, it's as plain as the nose on your face.
