French strike: Protesters, unions, take to streets over pension reforms

French trade unions crippled transport and shut schools on Tuesday to increase pressure on President Emmanuel Macron to ditch a planned pension reform by Christmas. All big unions organized marches on the same day for the first time in almost two weeks of nationwide protests, The government said that over 600,000 people marched nationwide, down somewhat from the previous big turnout of 800,000.

This is what happens when you let unions grow too powerful. Raising the retirement age may not be popular but it's the only way to keep things somewhat affordable due to the ever increasing life expectancy.

Or Seekster... Employers (3+ employees) should be made to contribute more and the government give an equal or partial tax break in another area benefiting employers, helping stimulate more profit, training, customers or business specific benefits. edit: oops name misspelled, sorry dude!
