The force of Star Wars franchise strong at the box office despite mixed reviews

Star Wars: Rise Of Skywalker’ movie is in the running for achieving some amazing feats of technology, thrills, and at the box office, compared to other openings, despite a range of criticisms, even some panning it. A 3rd Best December opening at $193 million, and 5th best ever Thursday night opening shows the force is still strong with the Star Wars franchise, in spite of the resistance.

This is bull. This just shows that Disney doesn't care about the fans and people will go see a Star Wars film no matter how crappy it is. If they did a rerelease of the Holiday Special it would make billions.

"Despite harsh reviews" The reviews don't matter if you've pre-booked, do they.

Straightforward answers alright: We revived Palpatine and now the entire Original Trilogy is undone and undermined and Luke and Vader look like dumb jokes along with their entire arks and sacrifices, because we weren't content with taking a dump on this trilogy but also on the OT durrrrrrrrrrrr. F off film.

Kylo Ren has the most punchable face in the galaxy. You're never going to convince me he has the blood of a skywalker.

Good fuck Kathleen Kennedy and the childhood memories she destroyed I hope that diversity hire loses her job for how badly she fucked up the franchise

Sure....if you count Disney buying theaters out to pump up the numbers and make it look popular. Misleading folks is an easy way to get buts in seats.

Remember when The Force Awakens broke the internet? Fifth place is a absolute failure by comparison.

This movie is all over the place. Pacing issues, Tone issues, thematic issues. The whole thing is a bloody mess. Trying to pander to old fans while still being a woke dumpster fire. It's better than TLJ but not by much.

the first one was a rehash as well. kinda like the old TV shows that showed only clips from previous episodes to save time and money. the starwars possibilities are endless yet they just take stuff from previous movies?

A high preview means many devoted fans went, but they need to keep sales up. If these fans don't return, like they do for previous movies and the ordinary folk choose to avoid it, then it'll make a loss

Considering that it has abysmal opening in China so far. It's only earned 5 million opening day there. The Chinese box office is estimating that it will only earn 18 million total at the rate it's doing now. To contrast, Force Awakens earned 126 million in China. Early sales are also likely to be a little higher here than the reviews would suggest due to presales from 6 months ago as well as tiçkets paid for by Disney to give away with promotional deals such as prizes. My friend just saw it last night (first Friday it is open) and there were only 12 people there including him. Any other Star Wars film would have people lined up outside for 12 hours trying to get into see it.
