’Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker’ has 2nd-best Christmas day ever at US box office

The finale of the nine-movie Skywalker saga earned $32m on Wednesday. That’s well behind the record-holder, 2015’s ’Star Wars: The Force Awakens,’ which grossed $49.3m on Christmas, but ahead of other December-released ’Stars Wars’ films ’The Last Jedi’ ($27.4m in 2017) and ’Rogue One’ ($25.8m in 2016). After 6 days, ’The Rise of Skywalker’ has earned $259m domestically, and $516m globally.

I saw it on Christmas Eve, knowing it was going to be trash but still needing to know what happened. FYI It is a bad movie with an unfulfilling and contrived plot, character development that is ruined multiple times, and which spits in the face of the established universe. I am the kind of person that would have gone to see it opening night, but I waited to hurt Disney's opening weekend numbers. I suggest we boycott whatever next films come out, until Disney fires Kathleen Kennedy and breaks ties with JJ Abrams. The collective two created a trilogy FUBAR that I, as a Star wars fan, refuse to acknowledge exists in the canon timeline.

More than a sniff of something fishy.

Only Disney Star Wars did Xmas releases which makes it also the second worse Christmas Day ever.

Most people I know went to watch the movie for the sake of completion. Don't get your hopes high Disney, it doesn't mean it's a good movie, in fact at the moment is the second worst rated Star Wars film after The Phantom Menace and that included the spin-offs which takes into account the Solo one.

slate has to be run by some of the most deranged psychopaths on the planet. read the first paragraph and just was like what the fuck?

Slate's article was literally a Tumblr girl complaining about her ships crashing. In layman's terms, a teenage girl is complaining about her fictional relationships not taking off the way she wanted. HOW IS THIS NEWS? This kinda stuff is everywhere where 13-30 year old women gather. Are Tumblr posts about how BBC Sherlock was DEFFINITELY gay for Watson with all the clear sexual tension there gonna be the next article?

Disney focusing on the movies when they should be focusing on the only ever good star wars piece of media, the Star Wars Christmas Special. smh

I don't understand people who have such low self respect and discipline that watch a bad movie knowing it's bad then moan about how bad it was. Bad movies will never get good if you support them.

Sorry, these films have nothing to do with the Skywalker Saga. It had already been concluded.

I feel dirty for seeing it at cinemas. Should have just suffered through the cam version with the gambling site ad spliced in between.
