35 civilians killed in Burkina Faso after army repels militant attack, govt says

The government of Burkina Faso said that insurgents killed 35, mostly female, civilians on Tuesday after attacking a military outpost. About 87 militants and local security forces were killed in the clash, authorities said. Burkina Faso was once fairly calm but jihadist violence and criminality spilled over from northern neighbor Mali. Attacks over the past year displaced nearly a million people.
