Republican senator ’disturbed’ by McConnell’s impeachment stance

Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski said that she was ’disturbed’ over Senate leader Mitch McConnell’s comment that he would work in ’total coordination’ with the White House during the upcoming impeachment trial in the Senate. She also said there should be a distance between the White House and the Senate over how the trial is conducted.

When the whole steaming pile really should be immediately dismissed, the question then becomes whether there is anything productive that can be accomplished by having a trial. For example, should Hunter Biden be called on the question of establishing the initial corruption and, of course, Schiff to find out if he colluded with the so-called whistleblower.

McConnell should just say ‘we in the Senate have not received any articles of impeachment from the House and unless/until we do we will consider that the President has not been impeached and thus we will continue working with him as usual on all matters, including in defense against the Democrat partisans who are hijacking House impeachment powers to conduct mere political attacks, unless/until impeachment occurs.’

Fair enough. She can pretend like anybody is still doing any of this in a nonpartisan fashion, but we all know full well that given the way it passed in the house there’s nothing legitimate about this so-called ‘impeachment’ (which as far as I’m concerned hasn’t happened until it’s transmitted to the Senate.) The Senate should simply pretend like it never happened unless/until the House sends it over, since until then they don’t even have jurisdiction to examine the accusation. The House simply has no leverage here to coerce any kind of ‘process’ assurances about a ‘fair’ Senate trial.

the impeachment defense has already been shown to be bipartisan. While the pro-impeach side being both partisan and lacking any factual evidence on the matter whatsoever or even a coherent argument.

Yeah that's not a republican btw. She is about as wishy-washy as any senator in the gop. Not that it matters it would take no less than 20 republicans and every Dem to vote for removal and that just ain't gonna happen.

She is a Dianne Feinstein puppet. Go back to the Kavanaugh debacle where Feinstein cornered her and scolded her.

Good, it just means she has some semblance of fair political thought left; it’s a rare site.

There is a cancer in the republic. It infects both sides of the political divide. It is organized crime, at an international level, that both the Pedocrats and Rob-Public-Cans are guilty of. Time to clean it up. No more deals. The Mafia has got to be cut out of public office and government service.

she is a lifelong politician. her father was in the same position before her. no/any lifer in politics should be trusted or respected. they say too much, do too little and somehow make way, way more than their salary. that go for all politicians.

It's true. Senate shouldn't make this partisan like the dems have. McConnell is a pompous fool.

Her stance helps not hurts the defense.. By saying I want fairness n open minds simply saying.. U exonerate no one if trial appears rigged... The senate has a duty to protect their powers too... The separation of powers what its about in legal arguments... She reveals wisdom n duty to her oath... Cause the bar is super high to remove.. U do a rigged trial n helps not this or any other president

I would be more understanding of her position but.... As long as Democrats and the MSM have total coordination with each other, I say fight fire with fire.

I bet she'll vote in lockstep with the Republicans but wants to appear impartial. Maybe she'll surprise me but I doubt it.
