Female Asylum seeker dies of kidney failure while in US border patrol custody

A Congolese asylum seeker died of acute kidney failure Wednesday in US border custody shortly after she entered a station in South Texas. CBP said the woman had arrived at an official port of entry in Laredo, Texas. The woman came with paperwork that documented a ’previous medical condition’. She was cleared for overnight detention by the agency’s medical personnel.

Very clickbaity title... 41 year old woman from the Congo, with acute late stage kidney failure, arrives at the southern border of the US where she is immediately hospitalized. Unfortunately she died from her situation. Why did she spend money to travel to the US instead of on the obviously needed medical care in her own nation?
