Known for his commemorate crosses, Aurora man is retiring

Greg Zanis, a carpenter whose work has been a comfort to those in the aftermath of mass shootings, has retired. Zanis has spent years creating almost 27,000 handcrafted memorials for every mass shooting victim. Zanis, 69, from Illinois, announced his retirement, emotionally exhausted by the heartbreak of his work amid the ongoing epidemic of mass shootings in US.

That's very impressive - 27000 deaths commemorated with the families has to be just a very depressing thing to do when it's always untimely deaths (violence, accidents, disasters). I think highly of people who choose to make a positive change in the lives of others by focusing on the people impacted; so much better than staged platitudes and empty whoring for the camera.
