Indonesian Muslims protest China’s treatment of Uighurs

More than 1,000 Muslims marched to the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia’s capital on Friday to protest China’s treatment of Uighur Muslims. The protesters, who chanted ’Get out, China!’ and unfurled Indonesian and Uighur flags marched to the embassy in Jakarta. Human rights organizations say up to 1 million ethnic Muslims in Xinjiang have been detained in camps and pressured to give up their religion.

I'm not condoning wanton persecutions, but here I see Muslims siding with Muslims. These defenders of "human rights" would be more convincing if they stood up for other persecuted groups as well, and were not persecuting others themselves.

I feel bad for the Uyngars, however from a country like China's perspective, looking at Muslim world and the things that have happened in the West, of course they would do exactly what they are doing. If anything, considering China's fairly recent history, this is tame.

Indonesia and Malaysia are two countries China would prefer to be friendly with for geographic reasons (Strait of Malacca). I doubt this will change China's current popularity or investments in these countries but it does have the potential to hurt China's image with those countries.

It's like with the whole trans bathroom thing. They thought making it illegal to discriminate about what bathroom someone could use that they would create more bathrooms for people when in actuality they simply opened the existing bathrooms to everyone and made them unisex. Taking what turns out to be the easiest path to follow. With this China ruling about muslims I can see 1 of 2 outcomes where they comply....1: they simply forcefully deport all muslims or 2: they just kill them all. Easiest fastest route to end the problem. That is if they are willing to comply at all.

These comments are insane. Uighurs are not extremists like Arab Muslims. Not all Muslims are what is shown on Fox News.

Yes I think the world should pressure China to stop Thier crimes against their citizens (plus Hong Kong and Tibet). The Muslim population isn't the only ones at risk of horrible treatment. However I don't think this should be America's problem solely. Regardless of who is president, America shouldn't be the world police and Congress shouldn't take it on themselves to be it. Comment edit to be more clear.

The rest of world believes in a second language.. N seems the rest of world knows it is vital to know some English to attract the attention of the greatest form of gov in the world in times of crisis... Makes sense to appeal to the place in the place where they have a constitutional right to be free to practice religion thus free from gov persecution.. Once again China show u that old ugly communist move to eradicate religion in order to silence disobedience they deem intolerable... To say nothing is to condone this... N question is who is next.... Could be Christian voices next....
