Ross defend tariffs despite US Steel plant layoffs

US Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross has said US Steel’s decision to close a giant plant in Michigan and lay off as many as 1,545 workers doesn’t mean the import tariffs placed on steel and aluminum aren’t working. Ross added that the problem with the Great Lakes plant was that it was just too high-cost to run. He added that those laid off will be able to find work in nearby GM and Ford Motor plants.

Perhaps the tariffs aren't high enough.Steel is a state-supported industry in ALL of the dominant steel producing nations. Try importing South Korea, China, Brazil, or Germany. We need an outright ban on non-NAFTA and CAFTA producers.
