China sentences gene editing babies scientist to three years

A Chinese court sentenced He Jiankui, the scientist who created the world’s first ’gene-edited’ babies, to three years in prison. Jiankui shocked experts globally last year when he announced the birth of twins whose genes had allegedly been altered to ensure immunity to HIV. He has also been fined $430,000.
