Sudan sentences 27 to death over teacher’s killing

A court in Sudan sentenced 27 members of the national intelligence service to death over the killing of a teacher in detention. 13 defendants were sentenced to prison terms and a further four were acquitted in the verdict. Ahmad al-Khair, 36, died in custody following his arrest for taking part in protests against then President Bashir. The court found al-Khair was beaten and tortured to death
