Brazil slaps Facebook with $1.6 million fine for improper sharing of user data

Brazil’s Ministry of Justice has fined Facebook $1.6 million for improperly sharing user data. The Ministry’s department of consumer protection had determined that data from 443,000 Facebook users was shared for ’questionable’ purposes to an app called ’thisisyourdigitallife’. Facebook says it is currently weighing its legal options and is committed to protecting people’s privacy.
