NY State implements criminal justice reform despite late swell of opposition

New York State laws reforming the criminal justice system are going into effect on January 1, 2020. A significant one of these will end bail for people accused of non-violent crimes. Critics say that this will lead to people being released who threaten public safety. They also complain of lack of funding for additional burdens placed on prosecutors and others.
