Texas deputy fatally shot during during traffc stop

A Texas deputy died Tuesday after exchanging gunfire with a suspect fleeing a traffc stop. Panola County deputy Chris Dickerson, 28, died after being shot numerous times around 2 a.m. outside of Carthage. Gregory Newson, 47, of Shreveport, Louisiana, was arrested about an hour later following a high-speed police chase and has been charged with capital murder.

Newson (allegedly) jumped out of his vehicle and shot the officer with a semiautomatic rifle. No non-criminal would ever do that, so wonder what sort of illegal shit this guy has been up to?

Probably figured that if the cop found the gun in his car he'd get murdered, so shoot first. It's that cowboy mentality the gun lobby loves to perpetuate.
