US strike in Iran violated international human rights law, UN official argues

A UN official has said the drone strike conducted by the US, which led to the killing of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani and others, violated international human rights law. Agnès Callamard, the UN special rapporteur on extrajudicial killing also took issue with the justification for using drones in another country on the basis of self-defense.

Quite honestly I couldn't care less what the UN thinks or says. When I was in the military I had to work with UN run troops often. UN leadership was incompetent then and still is. Personally I would prefer that the US got out of the UN and the UN out of the US.

I am against war in general, but I will admit I have not looked into this situation with a lot of scrutiny yet. I highly doubt that I am in favor of the strikes. I will say that it couldn't have happened to a better nation though. Iran is the largest state sponsor of terrorism worldwide. In general I am still against putting troops (or bombs) in nations that don't have troops in ours.

who cares. he is the guy behind the IED attacks in 2003 that killed some of my friends and wounded two others and left me with post-traumatic stress and hearing loss in one ear. he has killed thousands of people been responsible for killing thousands more and he's responsible for Untold thousands injured by his violence. The world is better off without him and if those international law idiots think I give a rip what they think they can think again.

Except we are legally allowed to do what we did given that the Iraqi government invited our military in to help and the general was a foreign terrorist.
