Gallery shut in Australia to protect artwork from smoke

Shops and offices told staff to stay at home as the air quality in Australia continued to deteriorate. The air in Australia’s capital was the worst of any other major city in the world. In order to protect its art, the National Gallery of Australia had to be closed as well. The Gallery decided to protect its works which were being shown in its Matisse and Picasso exhibition.
