US Government begins collecting DNA from detained immigrants and citizens

The US government will begin collecting the DNA of detained immigrants through a pilot program this week, according to a memo issued today by the Dept. of Homeland Security (DHS). The memo said US citizens and permanent residents who are detained could also be subject to DNA testing. DHS will start to implement the policy in its Detroit, Michigan sector and at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry in Texas
